Fantasy/Animation @ The Cinema Museum
Fantasy/Animation comes to The Cinema Museum on Friday 20th September for the first in a series of monthly screenings/Q&As and live podcast recordings. Joining Chris and Alex for the inaugural screening of Jason and the Argonauts (Don Chaffey, 1963) is animator Astrid Goldsmith (a.k.a. Mock Duck Studios), who will also screen her 2-minute monster movie Polymer (2016), a commission for SALT and inspired by Ray Harryhausen’s work on Jason and the Argonauts in its combination of puppet animation and humans. The event kicks off at 7.30pm and tickets/information can be found here, plus stay tuned for the complete list of screenings and special guests coming soon!

Fantasy/Animation / José Arroyo in Conversation With….
In March 2019, both Chris and Alex were invited to share their thoughts on the fields of fantasy and animation for José Arroyo in Conversation With…., a series of interviews conducted by José Arroyo (Principal Teaching Fellow in Film Studies at the University of Warwick). You can listen to the podcast episode here, or revisit Jose’s own appearance on the Fantasy/Animation podcast with Michael Glass as part of the Eavesdropping at the Movies team, where they discussed Pixar Animation Studio’s Coco (Lee Unkrich, 2017). Many thanks to José for having us on, and glad we could return the favour!
Fantasy/Animation / Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) - Showcase
In November 2018, Alex was invited onto Showcase - the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT)'s flagship arts and culture programme - to celebrate fantasy, animation and Ralph Bakshi's animated retelling of Lord of the Rings. A few months later in early 2019, Chris was also interviewed for Showtime, this time discussing the contemporary cycle of ‘live-action’ Disney remakes. Really exciting to see Fantasy/Animation getting some media exposure, or should that be trial by television? Watch the full interviews below, or visit the TRT World website.
